The Shipwrecked- Dinner and panel discussion
Join a panel discussion led by Nina Rodríguez and enjoy a meal by Maria & Pepe at the Plein, of FENIX ahead of the special screening of The Shipwrecked at LantarenVenster.
About the film
The Shipwrecked follows people in Mexico, each dealing with loss, loneliness, and uncertainty in their own way. A farmer returns to his father’s farm, a young man chooses a simpler life, biologists discover love and nature, and a restorer repairs churches and religious statues.
Their stories show how people find comfort and direction. Against the backdrop of deserts, jungles, and mountains, a cinematic group portrait emerges, exploring resilience, connection, and meaning. The film premiered at IDFA 2025 and was selected for the International Competition.
Panel Discussion
Before the screening at LantarenVenster, a panel discussion will take place at the Plein with filmmaker Diego Gutiérrez and editor Albert Markus, moderated by Nina Rodríguez. Together, they discuss the making of the film, Mexican roots, and the search for answers to lingering questions: how do you live with loneliness and grief? How do you relate to nature? And can a simpler life in a safer country also be a better life?
